Players eager to experience Yooka-Replaylee on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 may face some disappointment: developer Playtonic has confirmed that the 3D platformer will run at 30 frames per second on the system.
While many fans expected the game to hit 60fps on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware—particularly given its relatively modest technical demands—Playtonic clarified that a Performance Mode could be added in the future, though no timeline has been set.
Meanwhile, the title is showing off its full potential on rival platforms. A demo is already available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, where it runs smoothly at 60fps with enhanced 4K visuals. However, Nintendo players will have to wait, as no demo has been announced for the Switch 2 version at this time.
With its colorful worlds and nostalgic platforming design, Yooka-Replaylee remains a highly anticipated release across all platforms. The performance trade-offs on Switch 2 may not deter fans, but Playtonic’s hints at future updates leave room for improvement post-launch.
